⁴² When Goliath looked at David and saw that he was only a ·boy [youth], ·tanned [ruddy] and handsome, he looked down on David with ·disgust [contempt; scorn; disdain]. ⁴³ The Philistine said to David, “·Do you think I am [Am I] a dog, that you come at me with a ·stick [staff]?” He used his gods’ names to curse David. ⁴⁴ He said to David, “Come here. I’ll ·feed your body [^Lgive your flesh] to the birds of the air and the wild animals [^Lof the field]!”
